Performance art is a favorite.
Sandy started her radio journey at the front desk, doing traffic in 2012, and gave herself a goal to be on air by the end of the year. She voiced commercials, produced for News Talk 94.5, and four months later had her first show on Big Country 103.9. Her first Mix Morning Show went out in March 2013.
She grew up in Elko and brings her sarcasm and weird, fun outlook on life to every show. She has won the Elko Readers’ Choice Award for Best Radio DJ every year since 2013 (gold since 2018), took home Artist of the Year at the 2017 Mayor’s Art Awards, and painted one of the downtown boots for the 2017 Boot Mural project. It stands in front of the Elko County Library.
Sandy loves every form of art, performance most of all. She is vice president of the nonprofit theatre company Ghost Light Productions, and a single mom to her son, whom she calls “Bug.”
